About the Role

The Deputy Principal supports the Principal in the overall leadership, management, and development of the school. The role focuses on maintaining high academic standards, promoting a positive school culture, supporting staff performance, and ensuring effective day-to-day operations in line with the school’s vision and Cambridge standards.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities


Academic Leadership

• Support the implementation and delivery of the Cambridge curriculum across all key stages

• Monitor teaching and learning to ensure high academic standards

• Support curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting

• Analyse academic data to inform improvement strategies

• Lead academic improvement initiatives as delegated by the Principal


Staff Management & Development

• Support supervision, mentoring, and appraisal of teaching and support staff

• Assist in staff induction and ongoing professional development

• Promote a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement


Student Welfare & Discipline

• Support student behaviour management and pastoral care systems

• Promote student wellbeing, safeguarding, and child protection policies

• Engage with parents regarding student progress, behaviour, and welfare


School Operations & Administration

• Assist in the daily running of the school to ensure smooth operations

• Step in for the Principal when required

• Support timetabling, examinations, school events, and activities

• Ensure compliance with school policies, health & safety, and regulatory requirements


Community & Parent Engagement

• Build positive relationships with parents, staff, and the wider school community

• Represent the school professionally at meetings and events

• Support admissions, open days, and school marketing activities



Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s degree is an advantage)

• Teaching qualification recognised in Kenya

• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably in an international or Cambridge school

• Previous leadership or senior management experience is highly desirable
